The Museum of Scott County has a
Coal Mining Exhibit on display as well. Coal Mining was and
continues to be a primary source of income for many who live in Scott
County. The display entails a life size entrance into a coal mine
that is complete with a mining cart and tracks. Below students are
conducting an experiment for students who came to visit the exhibit.

 The Coal Mining exhibit also contains two scale model dioramas of deep and strip mining operations and a model of an actual mine. In the picture above, the student guide has her hand placed upon one of the dioramas. Many who visit the museum had family who were or are coal miners and appreciate their sacrifices much more after visiting the coal mining exhibit. |
